My name is Ariadna, but most people call me Ari. I’m originally from Catalonia, in Spain, and I moved to Ireland in September 2011 to work as Au Pair for a few months. Those turned into a year, then two, then I met the love of my life. We married in Catalonia in 2014, and we have two children.

Art has always been a very important part of my life, so as a teenager I went to art school to study illustration; but once it was time to start a career as illustrator, I realised that the “business” side of it was not really for me. I wanted to work with people, and make a difference in someone’s life. That’s when I decided to study childcare.

Once in Ireland, I updated my knowledge by studying level 6 of Early Childhood care and education, with Montessori training.

My first pregnancy was such an easy and enjoyable experience, that I thought I would gracefully step into motherhood with the elegance of a ballerina. That was not the case. Like, not at all; but I got through it thanks to the unconditional love and care from both my husband and my mom.

That made me realise that, even the “easiest” of births could be very challenging. I was suddenly aware, through other women’s experiences, that I had been very lucky. Not long after, I learned that something called “doula” existed, and it was like a revelation. While I am still passionate about art and childcare, this felt different; this felt like my calling. So here I am.

Due to my family situation I can only offer my services as postpartum doula at the moment.
